New recordings on the way.......

My new recording with Julian and Jiaxin Lloyd Webber is available from 30th September on Naxos. The first track of this varied collection of (mostly) vocal duets arranged for two cellos and piano is my own arrangement of Piazzolla's little known "Chiquilin de Bachin" (The Little Beggar Boy) and, unusually for this composer, it is not a tango,  but a beautiful, haunting waltz. The disc also contains my arrangement of "Sweet and Low" by Barmby.

This is the first of five CDs I have recorded as pianist this year. The others (due out in the coming months) are a disc with Emma Johnson of sonatas  (Prokofiev, Rota and Hindemith), a recording of Vaughan Williams chamber music with the London Soloists Ensemble, piano music by Richard Harvey and a disc of music by the Romantic Lithuanian composer Juozas Gruodis including his second piano sonata.

It has also been very busy on the writing front recently - Joseph Calleja's new album "Amore" (out on September 9th) contains a song based on a wonderful haunting tune by Morricone which I have specially arranged and orchestrated. Joseph Calleja recorded it beautifully with the BBC Concert Orchestra under Steven Mercurio. I have written several tracks for a  new disc from Nicola Benedetti too and, although details are under wraps for the moment, some of the arrangements are for an ensemble which includes the brilliant  Latvian accordionist Ksenija Siderova. She has also just issued a new CD which includes my arrangement of Piazzolla's "Oblivion" in which she is joined by Thomas Gould (violin) and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales conducted by Clark Rundell. Lastly, Alisa Weilerstein has recorded the Dvorak Cello Concerto in Prague and I have arranged three tracks for cello and piano for inclusion on this CD.
